084 Referral Strategy #2 – The Cameo
Can you use “cameo” as a referral strategy?
Yes, and let me explain what it is and how this came about.
I’ve been talking to another business owner over the last couple of weeks.
How do we complement each other’s offerings without having to partner, or collaborate, or joint venture, or affiliate?
We have come up with this idea of doing a cameo (that is what I am calling it).
A cameo is where we “pop in” and do a cameo in each others training, coaching, membership or customer.
For example, let’s just say that:
- Business owner A has talks about finance
- Business owner B speaks about marketing
Let’s say that there’s one course in the finance area that overlaps with the marketing area. And one module one, or one lesson in the marketing area that might overlap with the finance. Both owners will go deep into those two areas, but they’re going to have their own perspective.
Also, the overall theme and objective will be similar. So in this case, it might be “How to have a profitable marketing campaign”. And rather than collaborate and combine a program together, we are going to do a Cameo.
A cameo means we will come in and do one session, one training, one something for the other person. We will not have any money to change hands, no referral, no affiliate, no nothing. We will come in and share our knowledge with each other’s respective group/customer.
And then the members of that group can choose to purchase or use services of the other person.
And this is a quick idea, and we are working out the details over the next few months. I’m thankful that there was a business owner that was really open to creating something new.
Yes, I like “Cameo” as an option for referrals.
