Tip to Get More Eyes On Your Post
We’re going to build upon the previous episode which was taking articles, creating one line of text with it and sharing it, commenting and tracking. We’re going to build upon that in both the posting and the engaging areas.
We will change it slightly, by typing the commentary into the post, instead of putting the link in the post.
First, put a link into the first comment of the post. When you create a post this time, put your commentary on the first line. Then add one more line and say, ” The link is in the first comment on the post.”
Save the post.
Finally, go to post, and in the first comment, add the link (or URL).
According to my LinkedIn coach, currently, the LinkedIn algorithm does not like external links in the post, which includes pictures, URLs, and even URLs from other LinkedIn posts. She tells me to put all external links in the first comment, so I do that.
Continue this activity for the next 30 days. Respond and comment back to everybody that comments on your post just like we did before.
How to Get More Engagement
We will also add to the engagement component of this. To begin, respond to people that just click like. If somebody clicks just like on the comment, you can see who they are. I want you to create a comment in the post that says either put their first name and so you can link to them and then say, “I appreciate the like,” or “Thank you for liking the article.”
The reason we’re doing it is that we want the people that liked it, we want them to see that they liked it in the comments because it puts your article visible to their audience. When you type their name (and make sure you type it slow enough), that LinkedIn does that automatic fill completely, and it links to that person.
Now, you’re expanding your reach and your views.
In this mid-30-day period, I expect your views and engagement to be increasing. You are commenting and liking on interaction with the other LinkedIn members.
Continue this activity for every day for the rest of the week, Monday through Friday. At the end of the week update again with your last counts on your views, likes, and comments for each of your five articles.
Next Steps: How To Post And Engage More
The action and aim for today are:
- Add more commentary to your post, so maybe three to five lines as opposed to just the one line
- Post the link to the article in the first comment
- Begin to thank, ask questions and engage in those that like and comment in your posts
