Should I Consider Affiliates?
The question I had with another business owner is, should I consider getting affiliates? It’s been on my radar, and it takes some work to set it up. Here are advantages and disadvantages of what I’m considering.
Advantages of affiliates
The other business owner brought up a good idea that I don’t have to think about the traditional affiliate model.
The typical affiliate model is to do a big launch, get a bunch of people to share your information, and do interviews with them. That just doesn’t appeal to me. Because one, it’s super time constrained and two, it requires a launch approach. And I’m not a big fan of launches. I don’t like to do launches. I like to do open enrollment.
Some advantages of affiliates are you can leverage the connections, their audience and your time.
Disadvantages of affiliates
The disadvantages are it takes time to set it up, and time to do additional interviews, create the copy, and create the systems.
The new site that I have an affiliate program built in. It was on the radar to roll out, but not on this large scale. I’m considering this option. Because I have strategic relationships, and this would be a win-win that I can create for both of us.
Programs I can use for affiliates
We were talking about this specifically for the Speak for Leads, Influence, and Visibility program, but could I do it for the other program?
Next steps to move forward with affiliate option
It is something I’m considering. An affiliate program will get me to leverage marketing and sales channels. I weigh that against my time to set up and administer. I’ll have to noodle on it a bit if it is an option, and if so, when and which programs.
